Motogp, Dall'Igna: "It won't be a problem to have six bikes. Gp25? Here's where to improve it"

The general manager is clear: two less bikes will not be a problem, but we must improve the Gp25 in two areas. And we are already working towards 2027…

Bologna, 27 November 2024 – Ducati on top of the world, with the best pair of riders in the world, but also with two less bikes due to Pramac's move to Yamaha. The general manager of Ducati Corse does not see it as a problem and today his thoughts are more focused on those who have left, namely Jorge, than on the bikes on the track. Martin and Aeneas bastianini, which have strengthened two rival brands. It could be a more competitive world championship, that's for sure. And on the Gp25 there are two areas to try to improve, knowing full well that doing much better than the Gp24 in terms of performance is almost impossible. Not only that, from 2027 the regulations will change significantly and Ducati wants to be ready well in advance.

Dall'Igna: "Improve engine and spin in curves"

Ducati has won all the races of the season except one, a sign of the unchallenged dominance of a Gp24 that could not have done more and improving what is already going strong is difficult, but you can try. There was no point in taking the risk of overturning a project, so they will look for small improvements in the areas where they can do better. Here they are: "Introducing so many differences would have been risky, the Gp25 will be an improvement and we want to do it on the straight, where some rivals are stronger, and I would also like to improve the spin in the middle of the curve", the analysis of Dall'Igna. There will be less data available with Ducati going from eight to six bikes, three of which are official. For the engineer this is not the biggest problem: “I don't think it will affect performance – Dall'Igna's response as reported on motorsport.com – In the past we have seen brands go from two to four without a clear improvement in results. For us the real problem is that Martin will race in Aprilia, as well as bastianini who moved to KTM. This is the real difference". But Ducati must not only think about 2025 and managing the dream team with Marc Marquez and Pecco bagnaia, because from 2027 there will be a significant change in the regulations, with less aerodynamics and less electronic devices such as the lowering device. Ducati is already starting to work on the future: "We are already working on the project and we have some new ideas. When will they be seen on the track? We don't know yet, definitely next year". Finally, a thought on Fermin Aldeguer who will be on the Moto GP grid in 2025 with an unofficial Ducati Gresini. Dall'Igna believes a lot in the talent of the Spaniard: "He is one of the future talents of Moto GP and I am happy to have him in Ducati. He already has some good things, others he needs to improve, but I think the team can help him. In a couple of years he will be fighting".
