Rome, December 13, 2024 – Pedro Acosta e Ktm, a pairing that seemed very solid but now risks crumbling. Be careful, there is no separation in sight for 2025, the Spaniard has a two-year contract, but the Austrians' financial crisis is undermining the relationship of trust with the rider and his manager, who had believed in KTM's promises to try to undermine the superiority of Ducati. However, nobody expected this economic collapse with debts close to 3 billion euros and concern is spreading in the entourage of Acosta, not so much on the presence on the grid for next year but on the competitiveness of the bike. In fact, if on the one hand Ktm is continuing to reiterate the continuation of the project MotoGp, on the other hand it is inevitable to think of enormous difficulties in the development phase of the bike if funding for the sports part were to be lacking. And competing, in this situation, would become difficult. Acosta, therefore, could look around for a new team.

The manager: “We are worried”

Pedro's manager does not hide a certain apprehension Acosta, interviewed by MotorsportNetwork. At the time of signing the contract, KTM had no problems, there were no clouds in sight that later enveloped the balance sheets of the Austrian company which is struggling with an insolvency plan, debts of around 3 billion and employees at risk of dismissal. In short, a disaster across the board. This situation will evidently have repercussions on the sporting side, in fact the expedition for the Dakar has already been reduced and doubts about the 2025 Moto GP season are hovering. Listen to Albert Valera, Acosta's manager: "No one warned us when we signed the contract in May - his words - KTM was sold to us as a giant and with great financial strength, so what is happening now is a surprise for us". For now there are reassurances on the MotoGp project, doubts instead concern the competitiveness of the bike, because without updates it will be impossible to keep up with Ducati and the others: "There is no danger of not having a bike, but we ask ourselves in what conditions we will have to race and compete. In May we signed for a winning project and a company that generated profits, with the intention of fighting with Ducati. Today, after six months, everything has changed", the concern of Valera. It is difficult for anyone to find an explanation for the financial collapse of KTM, even Valera has no answers: "We ask ourselves what happened and denying the evidence would be absurd. We must be honest, both me and Pedro and his family are worried about the current situation". Instead, we wonder if Acosta may terminate the contract early, but as things stand there are no prerequisites. Furthermore, the first rumours are already circulating about a possible transfer of the young talent to Ducati, under the aegis of Dorna who would not want to lose the performance of a great rider: "We cannot anticipate events - Valera's response - The contract can only be broken in case of violation and KTM has not committed any. For 2025 everything remains unchanged unless the situation worsens. Dorna? We have not spoken to them, but Ezpeleta told us that if I needed it I could call him without problems". More and more trouble for KTM
