Motogp Le Mans, Marquez super favorite. Bagnaia in trouble: favorites and strategies
The Spaniard dominates the Sprint and takes back the lead of the championship, Bagnaia falls and has to chase. Quartararo tries to break up the Ducati domination with the Gresinis also roaring: here is the race of the French GP

Pecco Bagnaia
Le Mans, May 10, 2025 – Without the two mistakes made in Austin and Jerez, the domination would be even more clear and evident. 2025 seems to be Marc's year Marquez, with a Gp25 tailor-made by a skilled tailor such as Gigi Dall'Igna. The Spaniard flies and enchants with the red and the same cannot be said of Pecco bagnaia, always in difficulty, always chasing by three tenths and still crippled by a difficult Sprint. Zero points for Pecco, who fell in the early stages of the race in turn 2 when he was already behind chasing the two Spaniards and Quartararo, who was momentarily at the top. So, there is little to do, so the fight for the world championship becomes a climb to Everest. And strong at Le Mans, more than the Pertamina VR46, are also the Gresini, with Alex Marquez and Fermin Aldeguer intense and aggressive. The only one who can try to break the Ducati monopoly, but by doing a miracle, is Fabio Quarterly on Yamaha.
Marquez's superiority since Friday
Even though he didn't get pole on Saturday, Marc had already started on Friday Marquez had shown his superiority. On race pace he has always shown to have 2-3 tenths in the left grip and in sprint race he highlighted it. The number 93 immediately imposed a pace in the low 1'31" but with great ability to also go down to 1'30" with a space third sector and an ability to enter turn 9 that the others do not have. Consistently better times on Friday also on the single lap, with track record, and pace easily reached with the others chasing. The feeling with the bike is total.
Quartararo pole, with a miracle
Just an extraordinary Fabio Quarterly took away from Marc Marquez the joy of pole position. The Spaniard had lowered the bar a lot in 1'29”442, a new track record, but in front of his home crowd el diablo found the perfect lap in 1'29”324, taking the roar of Le Mans and a great personal joy for a rediscovered Yamaha. bagnaia also chasing in qualifying with the sixth place behind Alex Marquez, Fermin Aldeguer and Maverick Vinales.

The Sprint Race
There was a lot of spectacle in the Sprint Race, especially at the start. Marquez he immediately tried to overcome Quarterly, who reacted twice against overtaking, in the end the decisive attack came halfway through the race which allowed the number 93 to fly away. Quartararo, in trying to hold on, consumed too much of his tyres and was also sucked in by the Ducati Gresini with Alex Marquez second and Fermin Aldeguer third. Disaster for Pecco bagnaia, who fell in the early stages at turn 2. The Italian rider's poor feeling with the front of the GP25 continues. The best Italian, therefore, was Fabio By Giannantonio, a good seventh in recovery behind Vinales and Zarco. As a result of this result, Marc Marquez has regained the lead in the world championship with 151 points ahead of Alex Marquez (149) and Pecco Bagnaia, already 31 points behind.
Bagnaia: “I have no feeling at the front, but I was fast”
Despite the continuing problems at the front, Pecco bagnaia he felt competitive for the Sprint Race. He had accepted the sixth place in qualifying, he struggled with the soft in front, and in the race he felt confident, with a good pace to finish second. It's a shame about that unexpected crash, which risks compromising the confidence of bagnaia with the bike: “I was happy, the feeling was good and even in qualifying, where I struggle with the soft because it moves too much, I was sixth without having done a phenomenal lap – his words after the Sprint – When I started for the race I felt good and fine, I think I would have reached Alex quite quickly and in turn 7 I would have tried to overtake, the problem is that I arrived in turn 2 and the front closed without warning. I don't think I did anything crazy to fall. It's a shame because we would have done a good race and second place, seeing the pace of the others, was accessible”.
Favorites and strategies
The favorite has a name and a surname: Marc Marquez. The world championship leader has at least 2 tenths of an advantage in the wrist and just needs not to be hasty at the start. His pace and his tyre management are superior to Quarterly, who has to push harder than necessary to maintain a certain pace. With patience, also thanks to the traction and the Ducati engine, he will be able to overtake him and take the escape route alone. Behind him, a fight for the podium. The Ducati Gresini they are competitive and they are candidates, but there is also hope for a recovery bagnaia, who, by regaining confidence, can do second. Quarterly he will instead have to avoid squeezing his tyres too much to make them last until the end. From behind he could climb back up By Giannantonio after a difficult weekend. As for the choice of tires, you should go for a medium.
