MotoGp Malaysia 2024, Riccardo Galli's report cards
Bagnaia triumphs ahead of rival Martin. The World Championship is still open but the Spaniard remains the favorite. Here are the winners and losers of the race

The MotoGP podium in Malaysia: Bagnaia first, Martin second, Bastianini third (Ansa)
Sepang, 3 November 2024 – Pecco wins and postpones the sprint for the title to the next GP, in two weeks. But Martin remains the super favorite with a 24-point advantage, thanks to second place in Malaysia.
Pecco Bagnaia: 10
There was only one thing he could do to continue to be in the fight for the title: win. Easier said than done, because Martin is Martin. He is a hammer. A lion that can tear you to pieces at any moment. But Bagnaia tamed that lion. Whip and stick in the first crazy laps, then off with his head down for a heroic success. Extraordinary and with the grit of a number one. Of a world champion.
Jorge Martin 9,5
He puts his heart into it right away. Then he puts his head into it too. No, don't tell him that he was satisfied with second place, because Jorge wanted that second place, defended it and cashed in after realizing that taking the risk would have been a mistake. Calculator.
Enea Bastianini 8
Precious and weighty podium. He keeps his distance from the Pecco-Jorge head-to-head almost as if to say: you do it, I'll take the maximum of what's left of your fight. And he's right. Enea is closing a fairytale season.
Fabio Quartararo
He falls, hit like a bowling pin after a couple of curves. He comes out limping, he seems out of the game. Instead he starts again and has fun. And with him, Yamaha seems almost competitive again. Maybe this is an optical illusion. Fabio's grit, no.
Alex Marquez 7
He almost reaches the podium, yet his race is complicated. Keeping Acosta's fury at bay is not easy, but he manages to do so with the nastiness of a champion. At a certain point he is tempted to go and get Bastianini, but he doesn't do it to avoid unnecessary risks.
Pedro Acosta 7
Good and quick to get out of the swamp of the big group. He controls himself well, hunts for important points (which come) and can do little, without committing follies that he would have paid dearly for, to steal the position from Alex Marquez.
Andrea Iannone 6,5
The placement is worth little. Would anyone have imagined seeing Andrea up there, in the big zone? Impossible and unfair to think so. Iannone did what he could, he went back to studying the MotoGp text. And he had fun. Welcome back.
Marco Bezzecchi 5
In Barcelona he will say goodbye to Ducati and Valentino's team. Maybe Bez, a sensitive guy, is already thinking about this and his race in Malaysia was nothing. Far from everything and everyone and his head elsewhere. Too bad.
Franco Morbidelli 4,5
He falls and pays dearly for his slip. How angry, for someone like him who certainly, without that low blow, could have easily been ahead, perhaps fighting with Bastianini, Pedrito and Alex Marquez. Restless.
Brad Binder 4
He triggered the pile-up that knocked down Quartararo and sent Miller to the medical clinic.
overtaking is good, re-entry into the trajectory is risky and daring (for the others). Given that the race was only in the very first corners, he could have waited a bit.
Marc Márquez 3,5
He keeps falling. Too much, absolutely too much, for someone like him who in 2025 must and wants to be the favorite in the title fight. And then the fall in Sepang smells absurd. He could have experienced a race without pressure and as the first spectator of the battle between Bagnaia and Martin. He could have taken home a quiet but valuable podium. Instead he goes down. Doing everything by himself. And this is not good. Especially because it is happening to him too often.
