MotoGp, Marquez: “Without Gresini I would have retired, I made the right choice”
The Spaniard was reborn with Ducati and was close to retiring: without Gresini the eight-time world champion would have stopped. Now he will move to the official bike

Marc Marquez
Bologna, 13 November 2024 – He risked ending his career on the threshold of 31 years of age. The arm injury in Jerez 2020, the repeated operations, the lack of competitiveness of Honda: at a certain point in Marc's career Marquez he wondered if he was the problem or the bike. The results were not coming, the last season in the golden wing was studded with falls and keeping the bar straight, after having dominated the MotoGp, it was difficult. Marc went from victories to sand, gravel, asphalt and the doubts about whether he might have lost competitiveness were legitimate, amplified by a bike that, still, goes very slowly. So, he decided on a radical choice to avoid retiring: go to Ducati. The vintage in Gresini revitalized him, made him savor the good sensations of the past, albeit with a 2023 bike, but his performances were enough to get him promoted to an official bike in 2025. From possible retirement to the second opportunity to win a world title again.
Marquez: “Without the choice to go to Ducati I would have retired”
Chasing Marc's ninth title Marquez, will try in 2025 with the official Gp 25, alongside bagnaia, but just over a year ago he was on the verge of retirement, plagued by doubts about the possibility of returning to the top levels. The air of Gresini did him good and he was reborn. This is the story of Marquez to the MotoGP Youtube channel: “Two years ago I was full of doubts and I feared that my time was over – he said – In the end it wasn't like that because I chose the Gresini team and the doubts disappeared, I managed to become competitive again and when one day I retire I don't want to have regrets for not having tried. I will try in every way to fight for the world titles”. An important year in Gresini, with the highest moment being the victory of Aragon which brought back Marquez on the top step of the podium after more than 1000 days of fasting: “Victories give confidence”, was his answer. Today his doubts have vanished, as have the fears of not being up to par and he feels ready to return to winning ways. But there was a hard, dark period, which Marquez described like this: “I struggled a lot due to four operations on my arm and I didn’t get any positive results on the track, so you lose confidence and all the questions arise. Is it the bike’s fault or my physical condition? You have to answer this question calmly and step by step and regain confidence”. He will think about the world championship in 2025, while today the duel is all between Jorge Martin and Pecco bagnaia separated by 24 points. The weekend ends in Barcelona: Saturday at 15 pm the sprint race, Sunday at 14 pm the race.
