MotoGP, Marquez: “I’m in the ideal situation, I haven’t been this comfortable since 2019”

Bologna, 23 April 2025 – Marc Marquez is back, maybe the one before the injury in 2020. The number 93 was dominant on his Honda, so much so that in that famous GP in Jerez he was going to win the race despite going off into the sand at the start, then, perhaps due to too much haste to recover, the fall with the accompanying serious injury to his arm. Five years later and four operations, Marc Marquez is once again the world championship leader and has started the 2025 season with seven wins out of eight, missing only the Sunday race in Austin due to a silly crash when he was leading. It would have been eight out of eight. A ninth title is his goal, he would equal Valentino Rossi, and today's Gp25 feels in his hands as he felt the Honda, built on his characteristics. The standings see him in the lead with 17 points over Alex Marquez and 26 on Pecco bagnaia, gaps still manageable and recoverable, but the feeling of superiority provided by Marquez is much more evident than the points of margin.

Marquez: “I’m not better, I’m different. Ideal situation”

He worked hard Marquez to recover from that injury to his left arm and worked hard to earn a better bike than a Honda that had fallen into crisis. The year at Gresini was useful to understand that yes, he still had the talent in his wrist, the speed needed to beat his opponents. He needed a factory bike. Ducati he provided it to him: “Now I appreciate much more what is happening, I always tell my brother that all this is not normal and I am enjoying it – his words in the press conference – It will not be like this every weekend, but I feel like I am in an ideal situation. If you want to fight for the world championship you need an official team and an official bike. If you have these weapons, nothing is missing and it is all in my hands”. Marquez would be eight out of eight if a careless mistake hadn't caused him to fall in Austin: "I really avoid saying the word superiority, because it makes you lower your guard and make mistakes, but I haven't felt this comfortable on a bike since 2019". And since then a lot of water has passed under the bridge, for example several operations, a technical crisis at Honda and a difficult and tormented farewell. Today he is a Marquez not better, but different: "I've had four operations on my arm, I'm a different rider. I'm willing to work to get to that level and by gaining confidence you forget about the problems. The physiotherapist tells me that I haven't complained about my left arm for a long time...". For number 93, who will be back at the weekend Jerez, but this time as the world championship leader, a circle closes: "I have a different mentality, I'm more calm, I'm not obsessed with winning. There is pressure, but without the obligation to come first. I'm happy. 2020 is a closed circle. I try to isolate myself from the expectations of those who think I should win and I'm grateful for what I have". Saturday the Sprint Race at 15pm, live on Sky and Tv 8, Sunday the long race at 14pm, also live on Sky and delayed, three hours later, on digital channel 8. Marc is the man to beat.
