Mugello, June 20, 2025 – Maverick appears Vinales on Friday of the MotoGP at MugelloThe Spanish KTM rider took the best time on the first day of the Italian Grand Prix, in a weekend that promises to be very balanced and a Marc Marquez, third, less dominant than usual. The number 93 does not have Mugello as his favorite circuit, having won only in 2014, and for once he will have to sweat more than expected to try to win. Pecco on the rise bagnaia. Difficulties in the first free practice, always braking, then an excellent second time in the pre-qualifying. In Q2 also Morbidely e By Giannantonio.

Friday with Vinales in the lead. Bagnaia is there

The first session saw the riders focus on race pace. Good Marco Bezzecchi, always in the top positions in the first minutes and in the lead for a long time with a time of 1'46”404, only later lowered by Marc Marquez, who had started cautiously, in 1'46”293. The times, at this stage, are about half a second away from the best time in the race last year. bagnaia, instead, still had to fight with the movements of the Gp25 in braking, with a gesture of annoyance towards the end of the session for having gone long in turn 1. The FP1 then closed with some improvements in the final. Bezzecchi obtained the best time in 1'46”119 on a par with Pedro Acosta, then Brad Binder at 53 thousandths and Marc Marquez at 94, with Di Giannantonio fifth at almost 4 tenths. Bagnaia had to settle for eighth place at 452 thousandths of a delay, just ahead of Alex Marquez, remained hidden with the Ducati Gresini. As for the tyres, during the race pace tests the soft and hard were mainly used in front and the medium in the rear.

At the start of the pre-qualifying sessions, there were still race pace tests, with times falling below the 1'46" mark. The first to go was Maverick Vinales in 1'45”849, with soft tyres on the rear, while Bagnaia and Marquez tested the medium ones, also to have indications not only on the long race but also on the Sprint Race. Times quite close for all the best of the group even if Pecco confirmed a few tenths of delay on a pace that in the race is expected to be around the low 1'46. What caused a bit of concern, however, was Fabio's fall Quarterly, who got up with a lot of pain in his left shoulder. However, the Frenchman, after a brief intervention by the doctor to put his shoulder back in place, returned to the pits and then to the track, albeit in pain. The KTMs were also competitive, Pedro Acosta he printed an excellent 1'45”729 at the beginning of the session, under the 2024 race record, with Marc Marquez on the rise and also under the 1'46" wall. The last 12 minutes of the session were dedicated to the time attack to get the first ten times and go directly into Q2. Best time set by Maverick Vinales in 1'44”634, just one tenth away from the 2024 pole, followed by Pecco bagnaia, good second at 110 thousandths, Marc Marquez at 146 and Alex Marquez at 153, all close, then to complete the qualified Quartararo, Bezzecchi, Rins, Acosta, Morbidelli and Di Giannantonio.
