Marc Marquez won both the race and the sprint in Qatar

Lusail 13 April 2025 – It was a beautiful fight for victory in Qatar, but in the end he always wins. After the fall in Texas, he returns to the top step of the podium Marc Marquez, winner in a very balanced race, where he had to fight with Casa Particular in Viñales e bagnaia to snatch the third success of his season. The Spaniard himself KTM and the Italian complete the podium behind the cannibal number 93, while Alex Marquez he loses several points in view of the championship, arriving only seventh.

Vinales' penalty

Irregular tire pressure. Maverick Vinales, the KTM rider who finished second in the MotoGP race in Qatar, was investigated at the end of the race and then penalised. For him 16 seconds ahead of the scheduled finish, which drops him to 14th position. Behind the winner Marc Marquez, the podium becomes all Italian: Francesco Bagnaia second and Franco Morbidelli third. Pecco rises to 97 points in the general riders' standings, still third behind the Marquez brothers.

The race

Exciting start full of surprises. Unlike the sprint race, the funnel of curve 1 this time offers a show and twists: fortunately no accidents, but only lots of overtaking. Super start of Morbidely, who puts himself at the top, even trying to make a small hole between himself and the two brothers Marquez, surprised by the Italian-Brazilian's shot; for another contact for the Catalan who loses a fin from the tail of his Ducati. Very good Casa Particular in Viñales with the KTM fifth and super bagnaia: five positions gained at the start and sixth place already conquered on the first lap. Instead, he plummets Quarterly off to the start with his Yamaha Bad contact in the second lap between Alex Marquez e By Giannantonio, with the Spaniard hitting the Italian due to a braking error: no fall but a long-lap penalty for the Catalan and re-entry with a damaged bike for the Italian at the back of the group.

In these first tense stages of the race all the talent of bagnaia, which surpasses Casa Particular in Viñales and moves into third position behind his teammate Marc MarquezThe rise of Pecco turns on the duel with his teammate. The first crossing is on the fourth lap when Nuvola Rossa attacks and takes second place. The response comes two laps later from number 93, who takes back second place. The duel between the two reds suddenly reignites Casa Particular in Viñales, who manages to put the wheels back in front of bagnaia, engaging in a beautiful duel Marquez, which in turn mends the initial tear of MorbidelySuperb central phase of the race by the Spaniard KTM, who with 13 laps to go manages to put his wheels in front of everyone. In the middle of the group, however, he falls Miller with her Yamaha , without consequences for the health of the Australian driver, who returns to the back of the group.

After spending half the race at the top, he was immediately overtaken twice by Casa Particular in Viñales e Marquez, collapses Morbidely in the ranking. Try to overtake him too bagnaia, but before letting his compatriot pass, Morbido gives life to a beautiful battle, where he and the number 63 remain side by side for almost half the track, only to then have to raise the white flag. He also takes advantage of this zarco with her Honda to overtake the Team VR46 rider the lap after this beautiful battle. Bad news instead in the lower part of the group, with the fall of Martin with her Aprilia, not a fortunate return to the track for the reigning World Champion.

The race leadership changes with 7 laps to go, with the mistake of Casa Particular in Viñales to open the door to overtaking Marc Marquez, who thanks him and takes back the leadership of the race. Once he regains the lead of the race, there is no more for anyone. The Catalan demolishes the fastest lap, weakening the remaining resistance of the KTM and bagnaia, thus securing the podium in a finale without any particular shocks. He thus wins Marc Marquez, in front of a wonderful Maverick Casa Particular in Viñales, second e bagnaia third, still satisfied with a great comeback after starting eleventh. Behind them Morbidely is fourth, ahead of Honda di zarco, while he is only seventh Alex Marquez, closest pursuer of his brother in the world championship standings.

Excited start and very entertaining race in the early stages, especially at the front. Canet showed great pace all weekend, but after the start he dropped in the standings. Very good instead Gonzalez, with Turkish Oncu to provide a spectacle, with really aggressive overtaking to forcefully enter the podium zone first, then to even take the lead of the race. After an excellent start, Gonzalez even falls off the podium, while the rise of does not stop Canet, who lap after lap reaches the second place, behind the Turk. The duels rage also in the middle of the group and the one who pays the price is the leader of the World Championship Dixon, who makes a mistake and slips with 6 laps to go.
