Rome, 1 November 2024 - Il MotoGP Valencia GP has been cancelled. A decision expected after the tragic storm that brought several parts of Spain to their knees.

Carmelo Ezpeleta, Dorna CEO, after attending a meeting with the riders in Sepang regarding the Valencia GP, scheduled for two weeks from now, was just waiting for the government's decision: "Our idea is to do 20 GPs, if it is not possible to do it in Valencia we will find another solution".

Francesco Bagnaia was absolutely against it from the very beginning, who together with Jorge Martin had launched an appeal not to race, today reiterated: "I don't think it's right to race there. I hope they take into consideration that on an ethical level it's not the right situation or the right thing", Pecco was adamant: "Even at the cost of losing the World Cup, I am not willing to race in Valencia".

Luckily the Cancellation Notice: "Following the devastating floods that have hit the area, MotoGP stands with the community of Valencia. Our hearts go out to all those who have suffered losses, some of which were significant. We have been in constant contact with the local authorities and the circuit to assess how best to help and proceed. We feel a responsibility to every region in which we compete, which goes far beyond sport and events. Having carefully considered the potential positive impact of a MotoGP race in Valencia on postponed dates, taking into account the need to ensure that no resources are diverted by the presence of MotoGP from the necessary recovery efforts, the championship and the local authorities have been forced to cancel the 2024 Valencia GP".

The official note continues: "MotoGP will not race in Valencia, but for Valencia. The championship will collectively commit to supporting existing relief funds and ensuring a positive impact connected to the area in the way that best serves the people and communities it has been a part of for so long. Efforts will begin as early as the Malaysian GP and continue through the final round of 2024, with a new venue and dates to be announced as soon as they are confirmed. Fans around the world, the drivers and the paddock deserve a sporting finale to the 2024 season that can make a vital contribution to supporting the communities we race in. Any further information on the season finale will be confirmed as soon as possible."
