Paralympics, Bortuzzo wins bronze in 100m breaststroke: “It’s worth a gold, an indescribable emotion”

Paris, September 2, 2024 – Manuel Bortuzzo it's a medal of bronze in the 100 breaststroke of the SB4 category at Paralympics of Paris 2024. In the lanes of the Defense Arena, the Italian athlete finished third in 1'42"52. Gold went to the neutral athlete Dmitrii Cherniaev (1'32"20), silver to the Greek Antonios Tsapatakis (1'36"16).

"It's a indescribable emotion, I was hoping for it, I've never won anything, I didn't expect it. I don't know what to say, it's beautiful", a beaming Bortuzzo on the podium: "The last lap I thought about all the effort made to get here, it's beautiful – Manuel's words –. For me it's like gold. It's already a lot to be here, and a medal too. I owe it above all to my coach, there were many times I thought about giving up."
