Brignone: “My brother Davide was fundamental. In Kvitfjell I understood that I could do it”
The Aosta Valley native brought the World Cup back to Italy after five years: stages in Northern Europe, the awareness of being able to take it back. Her brother Davide was fundamental

Federico Brignone
Rome, 1 April 2025 – Two World Cups in the trophy cabinet, the only Italian woman to have achieved it. Federica's season Brignone, including the world championships, was superlative and dominant in the central phase, where she annihilated her rivals. In giant, above all, she was unbeatable, but having also added her first downhill specialty cup gives a good idea of how strong Fede was. Downhill is certainly not her closest specialty, but this year her skiing was exemplary, fast in almost all situations and with a clear improvement in the plans. An excellent viaticum for the Olympic season towards Milan-Curtain 2026. To complete the work, the third place of Sofia Goggia: never in history had there been two Italians on the final podium of the World Cup. From Kvitfjell onwards, in the minds of Brignone, the awareness that she could do it began to mature and the results were a consequence, with an impressive acceleration before being able to manage the advantage in the Sun Valley finals, where a great Lara was seen again Good Behrami, but by now the tiger had victory in its grasp.
Brignone: “To achieve these results you have to believe”
These were the days of the return to Italy of the Aosta Valley native, celebrated by the Federation and her hometown La Salle, where Fede rests in the midst of nature to recharge her batteries, with the three cups she won in her arms (she only missed the super-G) and in her bag the 37 total victories in the top circuit. A long, difficult season, started with the dream of winning the cup, but only along the way Brignone he understood that he could do it. This is his story to the Fisi channels: "To achieve this result you always have to believe, but after Kvitfjell and Are I began to understand that you could win the cup", his story. Fede's journey began way back in 2009 with his first podium, and since then there has been a continuous evolution. Today Brignone she is a better skier: “How much have I changed since my first podium in 2009? It has changed a lot, my skiing has improved and evolved, then I have made progress both mentally and physically. My character remains, the values are the same but today there is a better version of me”, the tiger's response. The addition of her brother Davide to the SUP staff was crucial, with whom Fede works both technically and mentally. The mind counts as much as the body and as much as skiing: everything must go perfectly. “My brother helped me a lot, he gave me ideas to work on the mind and we tried to combine the head and technique. It was essential to have coaches who work on both aspects. Then obviously it is up to the athlete to put in the effort and you never stop improving”. And today Fede has also acquired a certain notoriety, many young girls dream of becoming like her and alpine skiing is increasingly central to the Italian Olympic sport. But getting used to fame is always difficult. Fede's joke: "You're never ready, no one teaches you and I'm not used to it. I think I'll always struggle to get used to it". The season of the top circuit is therefore over, now all that's missing are the Italian championships and then holidays to start again towards the summer with the first preparation work for 2025/2026.
