Saalbach, 3 February 2025 – The main event of the Alpine skiing for the 2025 season. One year from the Milan-Cortina Olympics, general rehearsals at Saalbach for 2025 Ski World Championships which will be held in the Austrian location from the 4 to the 16 February. Eight individual events, three team events, a packed calendar with practically one race a day for two weeks of pure competitive spectacle. Italy, obviously, starts with great expectations, especially in the women's with several top stars, but also in the men's there is an important rise and with some signs also from the technical races. The president Flavio Roda made official a few days ago the list of summoned of a national team which in the women's category relies on Brignone and Goggia, while in the men's category the leader is Casse, but watch out for De Aliprandini and Vinatzer. There are 21 athletes, of which 10 women and 11 men. Here are the called-up athletes. In the women's category there will be Marta bassino, Federica Brignone, Georgia Collomb, Elena Curtoni, Nicol Delago, Lara Della Mea, Sofia goggia, Martina Peterlini, Laura Pirovano, Martha Lipsticks. Among the males called up: Guglielmo box, Matthias Casse, Luca De Aliprandini, Philip Of The Vine, John Franzoni, Stephen Gross, Christof Innerhofer, Tobias Kastlunger, Dominik Paris, Florian Schieder, Alex Winemaker.

The Italians in the race

The world championship starts on Tuesday 4th February with the mixed parallel team (two men and two women) and the technicians have already made official the Italian participants who will be Vinatzer, Della Vite, Collomb and Della Mea. Then the individual races will begin, first with the speed disciplines. Thursday will be time for super ge and the women's national team is the dream team with five athletes: bassino, reigning champion, Brignone, Goggia, Curtoni and Pirovano. On Saturday 8th February four will return to the race with goggia captain together with Brignone, Pirovano and Delago, who should beat Curtoni considering the track is not too difficult. Going on the technical side, however, another dream team in giant (Thursday 13) with Brignone, Bassino, Goggia and Della Mea, the latter favored given the absence of Melesi and Zenere from the list of athletes. In slalom, on Saturday 15th, the most acute difficulties with few chances of podium for the quartet composed of Peterlini, Rossetti, Della Mea and Collomb. Moving on to the men. The super G is scheduled for Friday the 7th and Italy will rely on the usual Casse e Paris, assisted by Franzoni e box who should be ahead of Innerhofer. Downhill, where there are greater possibilities, the race will be on Sunday 9th with Paris, Casse, Schieder and Innerhofer and we will go hunting for a medal. Second week dedicated to technical tests. Possibility of giant on Friday 14th with De Aliprandini, already a world medallist in 2021 and fresh from the great podium in Adelboden, Of the Vine, Vinatzer and maybe Franzoni who should have more chances than Kastlunger. In slalom, without the injured Tommaso Sala, the race will take place on Sunday 16th, the closing day, with Vinatzer, Gross and Kastlunger with possible fourth slot occupied by Of The Vine.
