Val Gardena Downhill Today, Odermatt's Feat. Casse is 11th
The Swiss precedes his compatriot Von Allmen and does so with a comeback of 9 tenths on Ciaslat. Third Cochrain-Sigle

Marco Odermatt (Ansa)
Val Gardena, 21 December 2024 – On Friday he had achieved the feat in super-G Mattia Casse, today however the best Italian (11esimo place, while dominik paris closes 18esimo, +1 su Christoph Innerhofer): the free descent of Val Gardena rewards the number one favorite instead Marco Odermatt, which descends into 2:03.10 and wins ahead of his compatriot Franjo Von Allmen and to the American Ryan Cochran Siegle, delayed respectively by 45 e 46 cents. For the absolute champion, the first success in World Cup at these latitudes, however, it is not a given: to beat Von Allmen a company is needed on Ciaslat, well 9 tenths recovered after an uphill start, well photographed by the very high time of the fourth sector. But on the day of the return in White Circus di Lindsey Vonn, the Swiss cannot be outdone and gives himself a very important victory, which projects him to the top of the specialty and general rankings.
The news
The first really interesting half is that of Franjo Von Allmen (Switzerland), which descends in 2:03.55. Then it's up to dominik paris (Italy), ready, go and lose immediately 50 cents, which in fact quickly compromise the ambitions: in the fifth sector there is a recovery of 19 cents, before the final time of 2:04.25 which is worth the temporary fourth place. Then it's up to Marco Odermatt (Switzerland), who immediately loses to his compatriot: in the third sector there is a recovery of 1 cent, but the trend does not change until the fifth sector, that of a huge comeback by 9 tenths on Ciaslat which actually shapes the final time (2:03.10) which means first place. Cyprien Sarrazin (France) fails to emulate the feat of its rival, even finishing more than 1" late. The Azzurri are back on stage: Florian Schieder closes in 2:04.82, while yesterday's winner Mattia Casse sign a 2:03.92 in which an excellent third sector shines and which makes him the best of the Italians with the temporary eighth place. The top 30 closes with the newly 40-year-old Christoph Innerhofer, which descends into 2:04.31.
