Three Italians in the top ten in the first race with Goggia, Brignone and Delago: Italy aims for the big target in downhill

Sofia Goggia
Saalbach, 4 February 2025 – Italy immediately makes its voice heard in the first downhill race in Saalbach in view of the world championship race scheduled for Saturday. Three Italians in the top ten, immediately showing good feeling with snow and track. It won't be easy, but the women's national team is there. Best time for Lara good Behrami, who immediately sent a signal confirming the progress of the last period, with a five hundredths advantage over the dangerous Breezy Johnson, while an excellent Federica placed third Brignone 63 hundredths ahead of German Emma AicherGood study phase for Sofia too goggia, fifth at 79 hundredths and also Nicol Delago, on a track suited to her, obtained a top ten with the seventh time at 1”07. Goggia and Brignone: “Good feelings”
Sofia goggia is a novice on the Saalbach track since last year due to injury she did not take part in the World Cup finals. Sofia had to get used to the track and the snow, but the first sensations are already good. Goggia likes to go from strength to strength in the tests, first learning the lines and then putting a bit of gas on them: “Last year I was not at the finals and I had to take the measures – Goggia's words to the federal channels - I did a good reconnaissance on a very rough track, with lots of waves and it is not easy to move at best. I think I did a good test, I went a bit long in the third sector but as for the first sensations we are fine. After the first impression I feel the track is quite mine”. The snow also needs to be calibrated, but goggia speaks clearly: the World Championships need a medal and the snow must be skied as it is and without hesitation. Sofia is coming here after a long injury and has no particular expectations. Perhaps an advantage to take some pressure off herself: "The World Championships assign medals but ultimately the snow doesn't know that and the race is like the others. To be honest I don't have any particular expectations, after last year's injury I didn't have the chance to imagine what these World Championships would be like and I want to live them day by day". Federica is also satisfied Brignone, an excellent third confirming the great form she is going through in the speed disciplines. And she is comfortable on this snow: "I am quite satisfied, I made a few mistakes here and there: with all these undulations you jump a lot, you have to work all the bumps well and be soft. I think that today many athletes have taken the measure of the track in view of the next days. I like this snow and it is a positive element". In short, Italy is aiming for victory without half measures despite the strong competition. The appointment not to be missed is Saturday 8 February at 11.30:XNUMX.
