The goal is not the Olympics, but simply to be able to return to the race, with his rivals, his fans and in the places he loves most. At this rate he could put his skis back on his feet in September, in time to carve out a winter as a possible protagonist.

He had tried last season, starting very well especially in giant, but a serious knee injury took him out prematurely, preventing him from participating in the home world championships in Saalbach. But Hirscher he is not one to give up: "I would like to return - he said to Sport und Talk - Every day my knee is improving and for the first time I was able to jog. We will see if it will be possible to return to the race. I can't wait to get back on the snow". Hirscher he is not looking at the Olympics, in his mind there are the classics of Kitzbuhel and Schladming: "I'm not thinking about Milan-Cortina - Hirscher continues - I've never been a big fan of the Olympics as an event that can define an athlete's career. They are not a priority. I think about Kitzbuhel, Schladming, there is much more there". In any case, the recovery seems to be proceeding without a hitch: "There are still some pieces missing but the puzzle is almost complete. Then we will have to understand the wild card issue and nothing is known yet". This is an important aspect, because obviously Hirscher he was unable to accumulate international points and comes from 5 years of inactivity: without a special card he should start with very high bibs. In any case, the first hypothesis is to put his skis back on his feet in September and from there try to understand if there is room for a fruitful return to the race. Hirscher, who has chosen to compete under the Dutch flag, that of his mother, boasts 8 overall World Cups, two Olympic golds and seven world golds in his career, with a total of 138 podiums in the top circuit with 67 victories, 47 second places and 24 third places.
