Marco Odermatt

Sun Valley, March 23, 2025 – A season dominated by Marco Odermatt. The Swiss is a cannibal and is marking this skiing era, just like Marcel did Hirscher which he won uninterruptedly from 2012 to 2019. For Odermatt, the overall World Cup and also three specialty cups (downhill, super and giant), a poker that brought him to equal Hermann Maier who did the same between 1999 and 2001. In short, for the opponents there are crumbs and the most dangerous rivals are internal ones in the red-crossed house with the overbearing growth of Franjo Von Allmen. With the downhill cancelled yesterday, the young Swiss was unable to play his last cards and will try again in the super giant, in a discipline more similar to Odermatt than to him. Italy is also looking for a breakthrough and will try with Dominik Paris, John Franzoni and Christof Innerhofer.

The favourites

Nowadays, when we talk about favorites in Alpine skiing, we always have to start with the Swiss. The main protagonist is obviously Marco Odermatt, but maximum attention also on Alexis Money, Franjo Von Allmen and Stefan Rogentin, to which Loic is added Meillard, in theory more specialist than the technician but directed towards greater versatility. As for the other nations, we go from Vincent Kriechmayr for Austria, second in the specialty ranking, with her partner Lukas Feurstein second protagonist, passing through Nils Happy for France, James Crawford for Canada and Fredrik Moeller for Norway. Outsider Raphael Haaser and Ryan Cochran seal. Three Italian skiers in the race. The biggest cards seem to be for Dominik Paris, but also John Franzoni could assert itself. Christof Innerhofer will instead seek a points finish.
