In Miami Matteo goes out in the quarterfinals after three hours of play. Djokovic, it's the final. Berrettini, what a shame. Fritz wins the marathon
The Roman tennis player: "It pisses me off, it was one of my best matches ever. Luckily there will be other opportunities".

Matteo Berrettini, (28 years old) also failed to beat Taylor Fritz in Florida
Two hours and 45 minutes of play were not enough to Matteo Berrettini to exorcise those who, comparison after comparison, prove to be an insurmountable obstacle. However, if the trend of this quarterfinal in Miami you look at it from the perspective Taylor Fritz, we cannot fail to underline the mental toughness of the American who in the second set saw 6 match points cancelled, but in the third he was able to find the energy to get the pass to the final, extending his winning streak against the Italian. The two have met five times and on as many occasions Berrettini has ended up knocked out.
"The end was a bit bitter for the result - commented the Roman tennis player -. I'm proud because playing a match on equal terms with a tennis player like that on cement is not a given. It's a shame because the victory was a couple of points away".
In fact, the match was very close. The first set ended 7-5 in favor of the American, then the Italian even toyed with the idea of finally having the upper hand after having saved himself from a defeat that seemed inevitable in the tie break of the second set. Trailing 6-3 in the decisive game, Berettini then won 9-7, earning access to the third set, where however the number 4 in the world managed to get the upper hand.
"It pisses me off because it was one of my best matches ever on this surface. There were never the ideal conditions to play at my best in Miami. Luckily there will be other tournaments and other opportunities."
The appointment is postponed to May 4th at the start of the Rome International, where Jannik Sinner will also be back. In the meantime, there are no more Italians in this Miami ATP 1000, while Djokovic flew to the final: 6-2, 6-3 to Dimitrov.
