Monza – Commercial activities in the centre of Monza say goodbye to the international tennis tournament ATP Challenger Atkinsons Monza Open 25 (from Sunday 6th to Sunday 13th) with art in “Royal tennis art”. “The intention - explains Alessandro Fede Pellone, secretary of ConfCommercio Monza Brianza Milano - is to create a cultural contamination between sport, art and enjoyment of the territory to encourage tennis enthusiasts to visit the living room of the city and learn about the activities of the area. We carry forward the concept of attractiveness and professionalism of the local trade”.

They joined al project 15 artists from Monza and Brianza who have created as many more or less figurative or abstract works, on the theme of tennis. They are already exhibited in the shops of via Carlo Alberto, piazza Carrobiolo, piazza Roma, via Italia, via Manzoni, Spalto Piodo, via Martiri della libertà, via Vittorio Emanuele, with windows set up ad hoc, and then at the Tennis Club Villa Reale. "This way of structuring the initiatives - underlines the councilor for Commerce and Productive Activities, Carlo Abbà - is a tool to make the city participate in sporting events".

So, as in September on the occasion of the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix, the bet is that of create tourist attraction, connecting the tennis event to the shopping streets. As the councilor recalled, from a sample survey of the 334 thousand people who arrived in 2024 to follow the GP, many discovered the city during the race and say they want to return. Of course, the ATP Challenge does not move the numbers of Formula 1, but the 1.600-1.800 seat stands still bring a good number of people to Monza, from the surrounding area but also from abroad. On Saturday at 9.30:XNUMX there will be a sort of ribbon cutting, under the Arengario, dedicated to the children and young people who attend the tennis schools in the area.

The matches begin Sunday and until Friday 11th il Villa Reale Tennis Club in via Boccaccio is open to the public free of charge, always respecting the available places. In the middle of the week, between Wednesday and Thursday (to be confirmed), another event is planned at the Tennis Club stage of approach to the semi-finals and the final which will be held on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th, with all tickets already sold. “The Royal tennis art initiative - underlines Cristiano Crippa, president of the organizing committee of Atkinson Monza Open 25 (former president of Villa Reale Tennis) - fully captures the spirit that we intended to give to the ATP Challenger. We talked about cultural contamination, precisely to underline that we perceive the sporting event as an opportunity for exchange between different sensibilities. We are convinced that our territory will enthusiastically welcome all the initiatives that use, even outside the tennis court, the event as a driving force and driving force to spread its own cultural value and values”.

Organizers on the artistic side Matteo Perego, owner of Amerigo Concept store, and Antonella Giovenzana, owner of Arc Gallery. “We intercepted 15 artists - Perego emphasizes - and asked them to interpret the world of tennis with as many works. The result is an open-air art gallery”. “Each work has a label - Giovenzana continues - with a QR code that leads to discovering the work and the initiative, the first step in the “Arte vagante” project to take contemporary art out of galleries and make it a daily message”.
