Miami March 26, 2025 – After more than three hours of waiting due to heavy rain that left no escape route to the city of Miami, the meeting between the blue Jasmin Paolini and Polish Magda Linette it was possible to play despite a thousand weather and organizational difficulties. The Tuscan tennis player, who in 2025 was the only top ten player on the circuit not to have reached even a quarterfinal in a WTA tournament, has authoritatively earned access to the semifinals of this Masters 1000 which, at this point, sees her among the favorites of the tournament.

Tuscany will now find the world number one Aryna Sabalenka, who got rid of the Chinese Qinwen Zheng: sixth match and sixth victory for the Belarusian, ahead 3-2 also in the head-to-head record against the Italian. The 26-year-old from Minsk has also won the last two challenges, the most recent in the round robin of the Wta Finals last November.

As for the match, it was a practically one-sided match with the Italian who, apart from a break right at the start of the first set, led the dance without any kind of problem, taking home with a peremptory 6-3 a first fraction where the Polish player (semifinalist in Australia in 2023) struggled a lot to find the right countermeasures. In the second set the music didn't change, indeed, for the "poor" Linette it even got worse and not by a little, with our Olympic gold medalist who had fun running riot by placing a 6-2 that closed a match that never had any history. With this victory, Paolini is the first Italian tennis player in history to access the semifinals of theATP Masters 1000 Miami

"It was difficult, we had to wait many hours in the locker rooms because of the rain before we could go on the court. The wait was long. However, I am very happy with this victory: the last time I faced her, in Beijing, I lost badly. She plays very well and pushes a lot: I am very satisfied with how I managed the match". These the words of Jasmine Paolini hot after the success over Magda Linette that qualifies her for the semifinal of the Wta 1000 tournament in Miami. "During the wait I talked to my team, I ate something, I joked a bit with them: in short I tried to ease the tension. What should the American fans say in the semifinal to cheer me on? Forza Jasmine!", concludes the Tuscan with a smile.
