Sonego, now number 55 in the world, defeated the Hungarian tennis player in four sets (6-7, 7-6, 6-1, 6-2) and qualified for the third round of the Australian Slam for the first time in his career. The first set was balanced, with neither Sonego nor Marozsan able to capitalize on the break points they had, until the tie break. In the final reckoning, it was the Hungarian who took home the set, with the Italian also being very unlucky in the decisive exchanges. The second set It was a carbon copy of the first, with both players holding their service game without suffering a break, but this time it was Sonego who triumphed in the tie break, who, after going down 6-3, had the strength to react and with five points in a row took home the set. From that moment on, the Turin player's mentality changed, and he became increasingly master of the field. In the third set there was no contest, with Lorenzo getting two breaks (in the second and sixth game) and then winning the set in the seventh game, leaving his opponent at love. The fourth set was also dominated by the Italian, with the breaks in the first and third game allowing Lorenzo to deservedly qualify for the round of 16, where he will face the American Learner Tien.

Musetti knockout

He comes back home instead, Lorenzo musetti, defeated by Shelton in four sets, with the last one ending in a tie-break (3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 6-7). The match opened with the American's break in the second game, decisive for the final 6-3 with which he imposed himself at the end of the first set. In the second, the balance between the two remained until the sixth game, in which Musetti conquered the break after a good 83,7 meters covered in the last exchange. The Italian, then, conquered the set 6-3, exactly like the American in the previous one. The third set was also marked by the balance between the two until the tenth game, in which Shelton found the decisive break for the final 6-4 recovering from a disadvantage of 15-40. All this undoubtedly conditioned Musetti, who in the fourth set suffered the break in his first service game, in the second game. The Italian, however, was good at getting back into the match, taking the break at 3-1 for his opponent and then taking it to 3-3. At that point, the match returned to being balanced until the tie-break, in which the American prevailed with a definitive 7-5 and snatched the pass to the round of XNUMX, where he will face Monfils, which he sensationally defeated Fritz.
