Djokovic, another record: he is the tennis player with the most matches played in the Slams in the Open era
With the match against Faria, the Serbian reached 430 matches played in Grand Slam tournaments in the Open era.

Melbourne, January 15, 2025 – There is no record that can escape Novak Djokovic. The Serbian, now number 7 in the world, does not want to stop yet and continues to write pages of tennis history. With the match played against James Faria (won with the result of 6-1, 6-7, 6-3, 6-2), Djokovic has reached 430 matches played in the tournaments of the Grand Slam in the open era, setting a new record. Before the start of theAustralian Open, the Serbian was in second place in this special ranking behind Roger Federer, at the top of the list at 429 points. Between Monday and today, however, Nole defeated the American in the first round Basavareddy and then in the second round Faria, overtaking his Swiss rival also in this ranking. In third place with the most appearances in the Grand Slam tournaments is Serena Williams, at 423, while in fourth position there is the other of the “Big Three”, namely Rafael Nadal, with 358. This is just the latest of the records of the Serbian player, who in his career has shown that he is capable of breaking any kind of record. In addition to being the male tennis player with the most victories in the final (24), Djokovic is also the only tennis player in the Open era, together with Rod Laver, to have won all the Grand Slam tournaments consecutively, even if not in a row, but he was the only one to have done so on three different surfaces and the only one to have won each tournament at least three times. The Serbian also holds the records of being the most successful tennis player in the Atp Finals (7) and of the Masters 1000 (40), as well as the most mentioned with regards to the ITF World Champions (8). He is also the only player to have closed the season as world number one eight times and the tennis player who has spent the most weeks at the top of the ATP rankings: 428, 122 of which were consecutive. Furthermore, Nole was also the oldest tennis player at the top of the world rankings. Last season, the Serbian did not win any Grand Slam trophy, with the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Paris which was the highest achievement of his 2024. For this start of 2025, the Serbian has decided to rely on his former rival Andy Le Sauce Murray, to try to win the Australian Open for the eleventh time in his career and prove once again that his time is not over. On Friday he will face the Czech Machac, number 26 in the world: the path is starting to get more uphill, but Djokovic certainly doesn't want to stop here.
