Monte Carlo, 13 April 2025 - Lorenzo Mustetti wants to complete his extraordinary journey at Monte Carlo earning his first title 1000 Masters of his career. The Tuscan is returning fromfeat in the semi-final against alex deminaur, defeated with a score of 1-6, 6-4, 7-6. For the 2002-born player, it was the third comeback victory out of four. Previously, the Carrara native had eliminated the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas (1-6, 6-3, 6-4), Matteo Berrettini (6-3, 6-3), the Czech Jiri Lehecka (1-6, 7-5, 6-2) and the Chinese Yunchaokete Bu (4-6, 7-5, 6-3). Today the Italian is expected to duel with Carlos Alcaraz, who during the competition got the better of his compatriot Alexander Davidovich Fokina for 7-6, 6-4, of the French Arthur Fils for 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, of the German Daniel Altmaier for 6-3, 6-1 and the Argentine Francisco Cerundolo for 3-6, 6-0, 6-1. In case of success, the Iberian would return to second place in the standings world championship, while if Musetti were to triumph, the Italian (already virtually eleventh) would move up to seventh position.
The precedents between the two
This will be the fifth time that Musetti and Alcaraz will face each other. The Spaniard is leading 3-1, but be careful, because the only final in which they faced each other smiled on our standard-bearer. In 2022, in Hamburg, "Lorenzo the Magnificent" achieved victory by 6-4, 6-7, 6-2. In the most recent duel, in Miami in 2024, the 2003-born native of Murcia knocked out his rival with a double 6-3. Alcaraz's other two victories date back to 2023: at Roland Garros by 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 and in Beijing with a double 6-2.

The match between Musetti and Alcaraz takes place today, Sunday April 13 on the red clay of Court Rainier III, with a start set at 12. The match will be available to watch live on Sky Sport Uno and Sky Sport Tennis and in streaming on Now and Tennis TV.
