The doubles final lasted just 46 minutes for Jacopo Vasami e Philip Roman, defeated 6/1, 6/1 by the Dutch Sander Arends and from the British Luke Johnson. The two Azzurri, who a couple of weeks ago had given life to this new duo in theITF 25k Foggia even winning the title, they were unable to repeat themselves at a higher level, giving in to the greater experience of their two opponents, who together have a combined age of 64 years against the 36 of our youngsters. A difference clearly highlighted on the field, after all the two new champions in 2025 have even won a title on the major circuit in the 250 of Hong Kong and have attended exclusively tournaments of that level, to which they added a second round at the Australian Open. The path of the two young Italians is, however, of a completely different level.

Romano is proving to be a doubles specialist at much lower levels, having hit the mark since the beginning of the season in four ITF tournaments (Bagnoles de l'Orne, Bucharest, Rovinj and Foggia) that have catapulted him close to the top-200 in the ATP rankings, despite playing with four different partners: from Leonardo Taddia to Kai Wehnelt, passing through Augusto Virgili. Only on the last occasion did he try his hand alongside Vasamì, evidently the two found immediate chemistry, so much so that they repeated the experience in the Monza adventure. Also because the seventeen-year-old from Avezzano in Abruzzo boasts an extremely meager curriculum in the specialty, being only at his second appearance. "Doubles is a great opportunity to train and consolidate some aspects of the game such as shots at the net and reflexes, and then we had a lot of fun, because the harmony is fundamental", admitted the two protagonists of our house during the week, who will now evaluate on the basis of their future plans if other opportunities for collaboration will arise, considering that the main objective for both is aimed at singles.

"This year my attention remains focused on junior activity – confirms Jacopo Vasamì –. I will play the four Grand Slam tournaments, all with at least one event in preparation. So for Roland Garros it will be the Bonfiglio in Milan, a prestigious trophy that I can't wait to participate in. For Wimbledon, instead, it will be the Roehampton event and so on. In the end I will see where I am in the rankings". University, for now, is not in the plans: "I am happy to have graduated, but I am only 17 and I have taken some time to concentrate fully on tennis. At the moment I see that it is going well".
