Jannik Sinner: The return after the disqualification and the domination in the ATP ranking
Jannik Sinner prepares to return to the court after suspension, while Carlos Alcaraz skips the Madrid Masters 1000.

Jannik Sinner, 23, is certain to remain world number 1 at least until the end of Roland Garros, on June 9th
The effect Sinner is inexorable. The end of Jannik's break is approaching - there are just ten days left until his return after serving his disqualification - and in the meantime the world number one is breaking more records, exposing the limits of anyone who aspires to his throne of the ranking. Carlos Alcaraz has in fact communicated that due to a damaged right adductor and a tired left biceps femoris, he will not play the Masters 1000 of Madrid which has started: this is enough to ensure the champion from Sesto an uninterrupted first position for at least a year.
This is a prestigious achievement and a rare confirmation: Jannik is already in tenth place among the champions able to continuously hold the sceptre of theAtp since 1973. If Federer's 237 consecutive weeks at the top (2004-2008) still seem unattainable, it still gives an idea of Sinner's greatness that someone like Rafael Nadal has enjoyed the top spot in the rankings for no more than 56 consecutive weeks. And McEnroe for 58. The 23-year-old from Alto Adige that the whole world envies us now has the certainty of not losing his primacy at least until the end of the Roland Garros. And then a year will have passed since he climbed up there in a memorable season. It's as if Jannik were making his rivals go crazy with his thoughts. Zverev is getting very little, Carlitos did his bit by winning in Monte Carlo and then losing to Rune in the final in Barcelona, but he is also prone to rather sensational falls, like the one with Goffin in Miami. Will Alcaraz be in Rome, renewing the challenge to a returning Jannik and then trying for a repeat success at Roland Garros? It all depends on his recovery time, because he won't be training for at least a week.
In the Spanish capital yesterday Luciano Darderi (6-4 6-4 against the Frenchman Halys, n.52 ATP) qualified for the second round who tomorrow will challenge the American Tiafoe (n.17), Lorenzo Sonego (6-4 7-6 against the Serbian n. 47 Kecmanovic) who tomorrow will meet the Australian De Minaur (n. 7) and Matteo Arnaldi (4-6, 6-4, 7-5 against the Croatian Coric, n. 104) who also tomorrow will meet Djokovic (n.4). Mattia Bellucci lost in three sets against the Bosnian Dzumhur. While waiting for Matteo Berrettini (against Giron) and Lorenzo Musetti (with Etcheverry) tomorrow in the second round, today it's the turn of baby Federico Cinà against the American Korda and Flavio Cobolli with the winner of Barcelona, Rune.
