Juan Manuel Cerundolo (pictured) is the first to be promoted to the second round of theAtkinsons Monza Open 25 which officially started on the clay courts of the Royal Villa Tennis (category challenger 100). The Argentine took just one set to break the resistance of Bolivian Murkel Alejandro Dellien Velasco. Having won the opening set 7/5, he sped away with greater ease in the second set 6/1.
Instead, the first seed comes out: the Croatian Duje Ajdukovic, promoted to number 9 in the draw after the forfeit of the Frenchman Harold Mayot, was surprised by the British Jan Choinski for 7/6, 6/2. At the same time as the start of the first round matches, the second and decisive round of qualifications ended with the promotion to the main draw of two other Italians, who update the Italian team to seven elements. The ones who achieved the objective were Henry From The Valley e Andrea Picchione. The player from Ravenna has put an end to Mirarchi's adventure and has the chance to continue his adventure in Brianza by facing another qualifier, the Swiss Mika Brunold (2/6, 6/4, 6/2 against the Belgian Michael Geerts). The player from L'Aquila struggled only in the second set against the other Swiss Remy Bertola, tamed 6/2, 7/5, and was drawn with the Frenchman Luca Van Assche, while Bertola was also fished out as a lucky loser. Nothing to do, however, for Jacopo Berrettini (6/3, 6/4 from the Croatian Mili Poljicak) and Federico Iannaccone (6/4, 6/2 from the Indian Sumit Nagal).
