Lorenzo Musetti beats Tsitsipas

Monte Carlo, 11 April 2025 - After the feat accomplished against Stefanos Tsitsipas, who had always beaten him until now, and having reached the semi-final of a Masters 1000 for the first time in his career, Lorenzo Mustetti does not want to stop. The Carrara native, who before the Greek (ko 1-6, 6-3, 6-4) had eliminated on the red clay of Monte Carlo Matteo Berrettini (6-3, 6-3), the Czech Jiri Lehecka (1-6, 7-5, 6-2) and the Chinese Yunchaokete Bu (4-6, 7-5, 6-3), is expected to duel with alex deminaurThe Australian comes from a clear victory against Grigor Dimitrov, to whom he did not leave a single game (6-0, 6-0). The victory against the Bulgarian followed those obtained against the Russian Daniil Medvedev (6-2, 6-2) and the Czech Tomas Machac (3-6, 6-0, 6-3). In short, the oceanic player seems to be in great shape, but after having excluded the reigning champion from the event, Musetti cannot set himself any limits. In the meantime, the Italian is already certain to climb to thirteenth position in the ATP rankings from Monday. If he were to also reach the final, the Tuscan would become eleventh, while in the event of a victory in the Principality tournament, the doors to the Top 10 would open wide.

The precedents between the two

This will be the third time (but the first on clay) that Musetti and de Minaur will clash. The score is 1-1: the first duel went to the oceanic, who won in the match valid for the first round of the Australian Open 2022 (3-6, 6-3, 6-0, 6-3), while our standard-bearer took revenge in the first round of the Queen's 2024 (1-6, 6-4, 6-2).

Time and where to see the challenge
