Musetti reaches the quarterfinals of the Hong Kong tournament, defeating Canadian Diallo

Hong Kong, January 2, 2025 – The 2025 of Lorenzo Mustetti opens with a victory. The blue beats Canadian Gabriel Diallo 6-4 6-3 (number 87 in the world) and reaches the quarter-finals of the 'Bank of China Hong Kong Tennis Open', ATP 250 on hard from $766.290.

"I felt very good in training, I had positive vibes yesterday in the doubles (lost in pair with Lorenzo Sonego, ed). Even today on the pitch the sensations were very good. It wasn't as easy as first match of the season, I'm happy with how I played", says Musetti who also shows off a new haircut. "I had been thinking about changing my look for a long time. Last year I had very long hair, it took me ages to dry it. My girlfriend and I decided to make this change. New year, new look. And let's hope that the coming season will be better than the last one".

In the next round Musetti – inserted in the draw as the second seed of the tournament –will face for the fifth time Spanish Jaume Munar (number 62 ATP) who defeated 6-3 7-5 the Portuguese Nuno Borges, fifth seed favorite. So far the Iberian has won all three direct confrontations on clay, while Musetti has beaten him only at Wimbledon, on grass, in the second round in 2023.
