Waiting for Jannik Sinner, Italy sends two players to the third round of the Australian Open and they are Lorenzo musetti and Lorenzo sonego, capable of beating two tough guys like Denis Shapovalov e Joao Fonseca, while Matteo was eliminated Berrettini, defeated once again by Rune and wasteful in the tie break of the fourth set that could have dragged the match to the fifth. Caps off

The Tough Holger Rune it is confirmed as such with the Italians, especially with Matteo Berrettini. The Dane qualified for the third round of the Australian Open by beating the Italian in four sets 7-6 2-6 6-3 7-6. Too bad for Berrettini, who can complain about a wasted tiebreak in the fourth set. It was a difficult match for Matteo, who was not very incisive in the tiebreak of the first set, but who recovered in the second set with the break at the beginning to direct the set to 6-2. Then, Rune was concrete again, especially on the blocking game, with noteworthy passing shots and a few too many errors by the Roman tennis player, less effective on serve and with the forehand. The decisive break in the third set came in the fourth game, thanks to a passing shot by Rune and to an erroneous half volley by Berrettini. The momentum of the match changed and in the fourth set Berrettini lost his serve in the first game, but he was good at coming back shortly after and dragging Rune into a hard-fought set. Just when Matteo seemed to be able to regain control of the match, the blackout came. In the tie break of the fourth set Berrettini went up to 5-2, only to then let himself be caught again and be defeated 8-6. Rune will now have the Serbian Kecmanovic.

Sonego beats the baby phenomenon

Lorenzo won yet another marathon sonegoThe Piedmontese defeated the young phenomenon Joao in the fifth set Fonseca, in one of those matches that only he knows how to win. Three hours and forty minutes to get the better of the Carioca, beaten 6-7 6-3 6-1 3-6 6-3. The decisive break, in the fifth set, was obtained by sonego in the eighth game after canceling a break point on three all. Finally, on the second match point, the explosion of joy. For Sonego now, in the third round, there will be the Hungarian Maroszan who surprisingly beat the American Tiafoe in five sets.

Musetti full speed ahead

No particular problems, however, for Lorenzo musetti who in the middle of the Italian night got rid of the Canadian Denis in three sets Shapovalov. The match was certainly hard-fought in the first two sets, but the Italian was able to interpret the decisive moments of the two tie breaks better, winning 7-6 7-6 6-2. Only the start of the match was complicated with musetti immediately down a break to 3-0 Shapovalov, but with patience the Italian climbed back up to three all and then closed in a one-way tiebreak with Lorenzo capable of escaping on 5-0 before filing away the partial 7-3. In the second set there were no breaks and the two players cancelled out two break points each, Musetti in the fifth game and Shapovalov in the sixth, so the natural consequence was another tie break, this time more fought and which Musetti closed on the second set point for 8-6. The third partial was smooth and easy, with Musetti capable of going up to 4-0 and never looking back. Now for Lorenzo the fearsome challenge at Ben Shelton.
