Milan, 7 January 2025 - After six years, Nick Kyrgios will play the Davis Cup again. The Australian captain, Lleyton Hewitt, has in fact decided to summon him - together with Alex De Minaur (number in the world), Jordan thompson (number 27) e Thanasi Kokkinakis (number 77) - to face Sweden in Stockholm in the preliminary round from 31 January to 2 February, preferring it to Alexei Popyrin. To arrive in good shape for the event, the 29-year-old will have his home tournament at his disposal, namely the Australian Open (12-26 January), in which he will take part thanks to the invitation received, given that at the moment he does not have a ranking due to his long absence from the circuit. The last time he competed in the event, namely in 2022, the '95 class went out in the second round, being defeated by the Russian Daniil Medvedev. Kyrgios said he knew it would be a "miracle" to compete in the first Slam of the season. After wrist surgery, the Oceanian returned to play a match last week in Brisbane, where he lost in three tight sets in the first round to the Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi PerricardThe former world number also played doubles with Novak Djokovic: the pair were eliminated in the quarterfinals by the No. 1 seeds Nicolas Mektic e Michael venus.

The Battle Against Sinner

Meanwhile, Kyrgios' attack - which has now become a real obsession - against continues Jannik Sinner. In the last few days the Australian commented on a post by Cruz Hewitt, Lleyton's 16-year-old son, who posted a photo with the Italian. "I love you Cruz, but this is not okay," Kyrgios wrote, then added: "cooked post," with a syringe as an emoticon.
