Joao Fonseca triumphs at the Next Gen ATP Finals in Jeddah

The Brazilian Joao Fonseca won the Next Gen ATP Finals a Gedda, in Saudi Arabia. The 18-year-old from Rio beat the American Learner Tien in the final with a score of 2-4, 4-3, 4-0, 4-2, after he had already defeated him in the group stage.

Fonseca, the youngest player in the tournament and currently ranked world number 145, has won all five of his matches since the start of the competition and succeeds Serbian Hamad Medjedovic in a roll of honour that includes the names of Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Stefanos Tsitsipas.
