There are two points missing from the away game in Brescia. The ones that Carrarese would have deserved on the field and that would have allowed the Azzurri to overtake the Lombards in the standings and settle into a comfortable ninth position with a view to the playoffs. There is a hint of regret but it merges with the awareness of having taken another concrete step forward in a path of growth and consolidation in a new and difficult category. Carrarese is now a solid team that has, first and foremost, its own defensive solidity. Aside from a few slips, it is one of the teams that is most difficult to score against. So far, it has finished more than half of the games played (9 out of 17) with an unbeaten goal. Only Spezia has obtained more clean sheets than it (10). Of the 19 total goals conceded, which make it the seventh least beaten defense in Serie B, Imperiale and teammates have conceded 11 concentrated in just three away games (Catanzaro, Spezia and Salerno).

In the last two games the opponents have not even managed to shoot at goal. And we are talking about Palermo and Brescia, two hypothetical "big" teams. This data is surprising if we consider that in this period in defense Mauro Coppolaro is missing, who until the injury in Modena had been an almost immovable starter. Oliana is a reliable replacement, Guarino in perspective an additional starter. Starting from this defensive balance, guaranteed by the synergic work of all departments, the coach is trying to acquire further certainties in other areas of the field and the signs in this sense are encouraging. At Carrarese it is clear that there is a sensible and sustainable project, shared by the club and the coach, which is bearing fruit. This group was thought out well in the summer and had in Calabro a true master in its management.

In the difficult impact with the new category, he relied a little more on the "heroes" of the promotion, leaving the possibility for young quality players with little experience to grow alongside them without particular pressure. The roles in this period are being reversed with the new guys who are increasingly taking up space (Guarino, Giovane, Zuelli, Cherubini, Shpendi, Cerri) and some veterans (Capezzi, Finotto, Panico) who are taking a breather. This whole process is happening harmoniously both on and off the field thanks to a receptive and truly cohesive group, perfectly in tune with the coach's wavelength.
