Mikaela Shiffrin won the last slalom seasonal at the finals of Sun Valley, reaching the 101 victories in her career in the world championship, the 64th in the special. The American won with a time of 1.45.92, inflicting more than a second of gap on the German Lena Duerr, second in 1.47.05, and the Slovenian Andreja Slokar (1.47.06). The special cup went to the Croatian Zrinka Ljutic who at 21 years old and with three seasonal successes brings the cup back to her country 19 years after the last one won in 2006 by the legendary Janica Kostelic.
Only one Italian in the rankings, after Martina Peterlini's exit in the first heat: Lara Della Mea from Friuli, 18th out of 21 athletes who arrived. It is a result that confirms how for Italy the women's slalom has been a chronic patient for too long, for which it seems impossible to find the right medicine a year before the Winter Olympics on the Cortina d'Ampezzo slope.
