NBA and FIBA plan European championship: possible competition for EuroLeague
The NBA and FIBA are considering a European league with 12 permanent franchises. The project could challenge the EuroLeague.

Adam Silver said that talking about "exploration" rather than creating a league is because "we want to have open, direct conversations with stakeholders and not secret discussions."
According to some media quoted by AFP, Real Madrid and Fenerbahçe, Manchester City, Arsenal, PSG have asked the NBA to be part of the future league. "We have been contacted for a basketball franchise in Paris, for which we have expressed interest," a PSG spokesperson told AFP. According to the specialized website Sportico, the entry price for the creation of a franchise could be set at least 500 million dollars.
