Motogp, Acosta: “It would be difficult to say goodbye to KTM. The bike will become strong”
The young Spanish rider still counts on KTM despite the market rumors. After seven years of militancy Acosta hopes for an Austrian comeback. And on Bagnaia-Marquez…

Pedro Acosta
Bologna, April 9, 2025 – Pedro Acosta still believes in KTM, which has been his home for many years. Born and raised with the Austrian company, the young Spanish talent does not have a winning bike at his disposal today and his hope is that sooner or later it will arrive. Ducati it is unattainable for everyone, but for now Aprilia and Honda are behind it, with KTM evidently paying for the financial crisis that has hit the parent company, forced to cut costs to survive. The Moto GP project has suffered, with updates and developments still to be planned and programmed, with investments that are still in doubt today. In recent weeks, rumours about Acosta they were wasted, between VR 46, with Valentino Rossi they met at the 100km, and Prima Pramac, who is looking for a top rider after the move to Yamaha . KTM is aware that without a competitive bike in these two years Acosta could choose to go elsewhere, but that is not a given.
Acosta: “It would be hard to leave. I am sure that the bike will grow”
The link between Acosta and KTM goes much further than that between company and professional rider. The Spaniard has practically spent his entire career with the Austrians, starting at fourteen in the youth categories to get to Moto GP now that he is 21. Seven years of militancy, practically a second home. Leaving it, a bit like Marc did Marquez with Honda, it would not be an easy decision. But you know, riders look for competitive bikes, they want to win races and world titles and for now the RC16 does not allow that Acosta to compete for the podium. If there are no significant improvements, the former Moto 3 and Moto 2 world champion should look around. These are his words to Speedweek: “The relationship between KTM and me is very personal, I have been here since I was 14 and will soon be 21. I have been part of the family for seven years and it would not be easy to say goodbye. I am sure that the bike will reach the necessary level”. Acosta he would love to be there fighting with Marc Marquez and Pecco bagnaia, perhaps taking advantage of the fact that two cocks in the same henhouse could clash sooner or later. A concept that Pedro had already expressed in the past and that he reiterated today, a few days before the Qatar GP that Pecco faces with the load of confidence gained in Austin. For Acosta there is no real favorite yet, but sooner or later something in the Ducati box could happen: "It's too early to crown the king, I hear talk of a Ducati dream team but a dream team can't exist because you can't have two number ones in the same box". The fourth stage of the world championship is scheduled for Losail, with the Sprint Race at 19 pm on Saturday 12 April and the long race at 19 pm on Sunday 13 April. All live on both Sky and TV8.
