Il Ancona Tennis Club confirms its vocation for innovation by opening its doors to pickleball, the sport that is becoming very popular in the United States and is now ready to conquer Italy too thanks to the work of FITP. The Pickle Day, organized by the Dorico club, recorded numbers well beyond expectations, with over 80 participants enthusiastic about trying their hand at this discipline that mixes elements of tennis, padel, badminton and ping pong.

Since the morning, the fields set up for the occasion were filled with curious people of all ages, from families with children to the most expert athletes. The initiative of the TC Ancona fits perfectly into the framework of the Pickleball System that the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation is developing throughout the country. 2025 represents the turning point for this discipline, with the introduction of numerous innovations: club affiliations, specific membership, official rankings (divided into first, second and third category) and the organization of team championships starting in spring.

During the Ancona day, the organizers held mini-introductory lessons, explaining the basic rules and providing advice on the game. Participants then had the opportunity to challenge each other in friendly matches, discovering the charm of this sport that is played on a smaller court than a tennis court, with rackets similar to those of ping pong but larger, and a light and perforated ball.

The ease of approach confirmed what was highlighted by Michelangelo Dell'Edera, director of the Roberto Lombardi Higher Education Institute, who underlined how pickleball is a sport with extraordinary transversality, suitable for both seniors and children from 5-6 years old.
