MotoGp, Acosta looks around: he aims for the official Ducati by going through VR 46
The Spanish rider would be ready to leave KTM to find a winning bike: the economic crisis is holding back the Austrians. Is VR46 thinking about it?

Pedro Acosta
Bologna, March 24, 2025 – Retracing Marc's footsteps Marquez, to become its true heir in the future. Pedro Acosta thinks about tomorrow, which may have imminent contours. The Spanish talent, a budding champion and on whom Dorna is banking a lot to have other attractive riders, is constrained by the economic crisis of KTM and by a development of the bike for future seasons that is yet to be verified. Pit Drinker, responsible for the Austrian brand, was honest a few weeks ago: "If we don't give Acosta a competitive bike, we risk losing him". The hypothesis is already in the air now and concerns next season. According to recent rumors, released by Oscar Haro, former sports director of the LCR Team, KTM is still in the midst of economic difficulties and these are linked to the updates on the bike, which will not arrive soon. Indeed, according to the former manager, as reported on Formulapassion, the Austrian test team has not been on the track for several months and also cancelled a session in Jerez despite the circuit having been booked. In short, for Pedro Acosta It's time to look around.
VR46 hypothesis to then move to the official Ducati?
Today there is a motorcycle that continues to dominate. It is red and is called Ducati. Everyone would like to drive it. Marc Marquez he understood it and built a path for himself in Gresini and then moved up to the official team and also Pedro Acosta is studying something similar. Acosta's manager is therefore testing the waters for a move to Ducati in 2026 and the main idea would be to open up a window with VR46. As of today, Fabio By Giannantonio has a contract directly with Ducati, like Bagnaia and Marquez, and it is in force until 2026, while Franco Morbidely has an agreement valid only for this season and Acosta could aim to take over. The Italian-Brazilian rider, for now, has started well and the podium at Termas de Rio Hondo was an excellent sign for the Pertamina team, but Albert Valera, who looks after Acosta's interests, has apparently taken action and VR46 could also look favourably on the arrival of the Spanish super talent. For now it's all premature, but certainly KTM's limitations regarding investments and updates force Acosta to reflect. If he stays there he risks not being competitive for the whole season and not having a turnaround even in 2026. In Ducati, however, everyone is going strong and his talent could allow him to fight for the top even with a customer bike. An attraction for a young talent who has dominated the world championships in Moto 3 and Moto 2 behind him. Vale Rossi and Pedro Acosta somehow together it is not so utopian and it is not a coincidence the participation of the Spaniard in the 100 kilometers of champions, where he had the opportunity to directly confront the Doctor. Maybe they are both thinking about it… Read also - Moto GP, Dall'Igna: "Bagnaia can't work so hard for a third place"
