Olympics, Sanguinetti called up

It's one thing to hope for it, the rumors are one thing, and it's another thing to actually play them. Since yesterday the dream for Giovanni Sanguinetti has become reality: the central defender from Bologna born in 2000 who next year will play his sixth season with the Modena Volley jersey has been included in the list of those called up to the Games by coach Ferdinando De Giorgi. A satisfaction for him, of course, for all these years of exponential growth, but also for all those who at PalaPanini made him grow technically and physically. His inclusion in the squad is also the result of the stop that unfortunately stopped Simone Anzani (for him still a non-call-up due to his heart), certainly not of that of Leandro Mosca who Sanguinetti was in any case ahead of in the blue hierarchy. Will there also be points and minutes on the pitch? It's too early to say, because Russo and Galassi are ahead of him in the three-place hierarchy for now.

However, Sanguinetti also demonstrated in Vnl that he is an excellent central attacker and that he can play his cards. As expected after the Volleyball Nations League, Tommaso Rinaldi is out of the squad, also as the thirteenth player, and will therefore join Alberto Giuliani's group from the start of preparation. Another satisfaction with yellow-blue reflections also comes from the women's national team: Julio Velasco has in fact included Gaia Giovannini among the players called up, from Bologna from San Giovanni in Persiceto, born in 2001, who grew up in volleyball first at the Anderlini Volleyball School, in the youth course, and then in Serie A2 in Montale in the 2019/2020 season, before landing in top-level volleyball playing in Cuneo, Novara and finally in the last season in Vallefoglia. Therefore a great satisfaction for her too.
