PERUGIA – The magic moment of the Sir Susa Vim Perugia it stopped at final four of Italian Cup Men, the fifth set was fatal against the extraordinary Verona. The block-devils fought and sold their skin dearly, leaving the field with their heads held high. A result that testifies to the great competitiveness of the Italian championship.

The setter Simone Giannelli (pictured) said: "It was the match we expected in the semifinals, a tie-break was likely and so it was. We were very good in the first set, we were very careful in all the fundamentals of the game we had prepared. In the second set we suffered a little, but we managed, thanks also to the entry of Ben Tara, to recover and impose ourselves, putting down the balls that mattered. The third set is the regret of this match as far as I'm concerned, because it's normal to lose, but not 25-12. In my opinion we have to be demanding from a character point of view and we must not accept it, the opponent certainly did well, but we also put in our own. The fourth was more fought, but even there we made too many mistakes in counterattack. Al tie-breaker out of five balls, three balls to score a point and we didn't take advantage of any of them. Without taking anything away from Verona, when you waste so many opportunities then it's tough. Their high ball attackers were very good and played well. There's disappointment, it's certainly not nice to lose, but you also have to be aware of what you've done. We'll watch the match again, study and try to improve. Injuries shouldn't become an excuse, if we had won we wouldn't have talked about injuries. We had our chances, we could have done better, so, let's not find excuses. Now we have a commitment in the Champions League, then in the championship. We hadn't lost a competition for a year and a half, you can't think of always winning everything".
