Guest on the Passa dal BSMT podcast, the Divine Ponytail retraced his entire career, and then also talked about his private life

Roberto Baggio
Rome, 5 June 2025 – Roberto Baggio was a guest of Gianluca Gazzoli in the podcast Passa dal BSMT and told many anecdotes, both from his career and his personal life, from injuries and the move from Fiorentina to Juventus, to then get to the robbery he suffered a year ago. The injury to Vicenza It was definitely tough for the Divin Ponytail to deal with, as he explained how at the age of 18 he saw his world collapse after the outcome of the injury: “I remember the moment they told me: I was in hospital in Vicenza, they did an arthroscopy and my cruciate ligament was completely torn. In those years, anyone who had this type of injury would stop playing. The first thing I asked the doctor after they told me the outcome was how long I would be out and when he replied: “At least a year” it was tragic”. Furthermore, Baggio explained how the surgical technique he underwent in France was the cause of numerous injuries he suffered later, as a piece of muscle was removed from the inside of his knee which never grew back. We then talked about the experience at Fiorentina and the transition to Juve, with all the controversy that arose after the penalty not taken at the Franchi: “In my first year in Florence I didn’t have the courage to deposit my salary in the bank because I was injured and I wasn’t playing: I felt guilty about collecting the check and so I kept it at home. Shortly before Christmas the club secretary called me to ask for explanations, I kept the checks at home but in the end I went to deposit them in the bank. I felt loved by those people even though I hadn’t played yet, for me it was an act due and it was very difficult to leave Florence. I didn’t refuse Juventus, but I didn’t want to leave Fiorentina: I felt indebted to the fans and the club. Maybe I would have left later, but not at that moment. The penalty at the Franchi? To avoid anything, during the week we had decided that he would take it From Agostini, who before my arrival was the penalty taker for Juve. By chance he missed it, and from there a case was made about my refusal”. The Divine Ponytail also spoke about the robbery he suffered last year, recounting how the unpleasant episode inevitably marked him given that, among other things, a gun was also put in his son's mouth to find out where the safe was, a wickedness towards his wife and children that “he can't explain”.
