Manuel De Luca: suo il gol di testa che ha "salvato" la Cremonese contro il Modena

Cremona, 26 January 2025 – A header by De Luca 2' from the end avoid defeat to Cremonese, which ends 2-2 with Modena. The hard-fought draw snatched in extremis, however, does not prevent Stroppa's team from slip to eight points from Spezia.

Despite the repeated additions (in the last few days Folino and Azzi arrived and have already made their debut with the Canaries) and the important ambitions confirmed on several occasions, the grey-red team is unable to find the necessary continuity and is struggling too much to confirm on the field the undoubted qualities of its team. Cremonese, who on Sunday 2 February will have to face the challenging away match at the home of a Salernitana hungry for points, once again repeats in front of his fans the script that is becoming the guideline of this season.

The grigiorossi create and waste several occasions and, thanks to an error in the defensive phase, find themselves forced to chase, thus ending up nullifying everything they had sown previously. Luckily for mister Stroppa's team, who hoped to give themselves a very different gift after having celebrated their birthday in recent days, the qualities available to the grigiorossi are of undoubted calibre and the winning play, Often, manages to straighten out the situation, although to give concreteness to the dreams of glory that they want to continue to cultivate in Cremona, Vazquez and his companions are called to take a precise step forward.

The match

As for the challenge with a Modena that appeared concrete and attentive, the match went in the desired direction at 17'. Vazquez invites Vandeputte to the cue, who appears in front of Gagno and signs the 1-0. The advantage of the home team is short-lived and in the 26th minute Defrel takes advantage of a poorly handled ball from the grey-red defence to bag the equaliser which is not the only disappointment of the first half for the home team, who in the 42nd minute had to suffer the overtaking of the yellow-blues for a penalty converted by Palumbo following a controversial foul by Ceccherini on the same Emilian attacking midfielder.

At this point Stroppa's team tries to go against the flow, but Modena closes all the spaces and maintains the narrow advantage. At 43', when a mocking defeat seems just around the corner for Cremonese, De Luca heads ahead of everyone and signs the final 2-2 which however does not satisfy the ambitions of the grigiorossi and their fans.
