Here we are. There is very little left until the beginning of the first Italian edition of the Kings League, a seven-a-side football tournament created by the former defender of Barcelona Gerard Pique, which will start next Monday 3 February, with the kick-off of the first match scheduled for 17pm in the setting of the Fonzies Arena in Milan. For those who have never heard of this competition, it is a football tournament in which teams made up of VIPs such as former footballers, content creators, YouTubers, influencers, each of which is headed by a president who will then designate the formation of its own squad of players. The format of this year's Italian edition includes twelve teams at the start, which will face each other in a calendar consisting of eleven days, at the end of which a winner will be announced overall as happens in various football championships. Once the initial phase is over, the best-ranked team will directly access the Final Four, while the other teams that have reached the top eight will face each other through the following pairings: second against seventh, third against sixth and fourth against fifth. The winners of these three matches will reach the first in the final four, then playing the semi-final and final. However, there are some fundamental aspects that make the Kings League unique and that form a very particular regulation. The various matches will be played over a period of forty minutes divided into two halves of twenty minutes each. Then, before each challenge, the coaches of each of the two teams must draw a card among the six proposals, with the possibility for example of drawing a penalty in your favor, or of making the goals scored by your team count as double for four minutes, or even of being able to take a player away from the opponents for a certain period of the game. In addition, each team holds the so-called presidential rigor, which allows the president of each team to be able to take a penalty in their favor at any time during the match. So after the special edition called Kings World Cup Nations, dedicated exclusively to the national teams that saw Brazil triumphs in the final played at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, the competition reserved for clubs also lands in Italy, characterised by the presence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Claudio Marchisio respectively in the role of president and sports director, but also as famous faces of sport and not as former footballers Francesco “Ciccio” Caputo ed Emiliano viviano among the footballers on the pitch, or like the rapper Fedez who will coach the Boomers team. Speaking of the teams on the pitch, it is worth mentioning the presence of Zebras FC who will be supported by Juventus for the entire duration of the competition, becoming the first football club in the world to support a Kings League team. All matches will be visible live both on Sky and on NOW, but also on the official social channels of the competition Twitch and Youtube.
