The athletes from Macerata were the protagonists in Ancona in the two-day fencing competition that saw the participation of over 200 athletes from the Marche. It started with the Under 10 category. Macerata Scherma participated with 12 fencers from the "Gioco-Scherma" classes: Tommaso Beccacece, Chiara Bracalente, Benito Buldorini, Annibale Buonsanto, Martina Censi, Neve Cesaretti, Paolo Di Fede Pilato, Camilla Montecchiari, Carlotta Montecchiari, Luce Salvi, Lorenzo Sepi and Nina Torresi. There would have been even more, but the flu kept several children at home. It was an overall test of excellent level, considering that 10 are in their first year of fencing practice. A special note of merit goes to Chiara Bracalente who won the competition for those born in 2013 and 2014, she showed good technique and notable coolness. Climbing to the highest step of the podium, she was awarded by Stefano Angelelli, president of the Marche Regional Committee of the Fencing Federation. The multiple champion teacher Carola Cicconetti, satisfied at the end of the competition, emphasized that for all her boys the goal is to have fun in the competition, regardless of the result, and above all to develop new friendships in the name of sympathy and mutual respect. Then it was the turn of the swordsmen and swordswomen of the regional absolute category. Five representatives of the city of Macerata: Jacopo Foresi, Alessandra Franco, Benedetta Pallotta, Ilaria Palomba and Matilde Spadari. The sixteen-year-old Pallotta won third place with a brilliant competition in which she overcame more titled and expert opponents, thus qualifying for the national phase scheduled in Massa Carrara on March 8.
